2017 Testing info and schedule
3-10-17

Students and Parents of Garden City High School,

The spring testing time is upon us.  This year our freshman, sophomores, and juniors will be required to take state mandated testing.  All tests are paid for by the state and all documents that need to be completed will be completed at school.  Students and parents do not need to complete any additional documentation at home.

Freshman and sophomores will be required to take the PSAT while juniors will be required to take the SAT, WorkKeys, and M-Step tests.  Due to the testing, our schedules will be altered on April 11, 12, and 13th to accommodate the testing window.  The schedule on the back of this sheet will show you which days the students in each grade must attend, and the arrival times for testers/non-testers on those individual days.

Information for all grade levels:

  • Food: Testing policy prohibits a break for lunch.  However, we will provide some snacks and water for students during breaks.  Students may bring their own snacks to eat during breaks if they would like.

  • Cell Phones: Cell phones are strictly prohibited from the testing area.  Students are encouraged to leave their cell phones at home, in their vehicles, or in their lockers turned off.  If a student is found in possession of a cell phone at any point during the testing, including during breaks, their test will be voided.  The student could additionally be subject to disciplinary action from College Board and/or from the school.

  • Calculators: All testing can be completed without the use of a calculator.  However, students are strongly encouraged to bring an approved calculator that they are comfortable using.  The school will only be able to provide calculators for the JUNIORS on test days.  Calculators on cell phones are NOT allowed.

  • Picture Identification: All students must have picture identification for check-in.  Students may use their student ID card, State of Michigan ID card, or a driver’s license for this purpose.

  • Pencils: Students are encouraged to bring several No. 2 pencils with erasers for testing.  Mechanical pencils are not permitted.
