Testing Out
All GCPS students have the opportunity to test out of courses/content specified by the Michigan Merit Curriculum. Students who earn a C+ (78%) or better on the testing out assessment will be considered to have “tested out” of the course. Students, however, must still earn the 23 credits required for graduation from Garden City High School.
Important Information:
- Testing out will occur in January and June of each year.
- Students must register for testing out at least three weeks prior to the testing out dates established annually by GCHS.
- Testing out may take place across multiple days and require performance assessments, including giving speeches, writing essays, and completing projects.
- The NCAA does not accept testing out credit for student athletes.
- Students are responsible for preparing for testing out independently and without assistance from the district.
- Testing out will not be included in the computation of a student’s grade point average (GPA).
If a student is interested in testing out of a course, the student or parent/guardian should complete this FORM.
