School Aged Child Care

Hours

We open at 6:45 A.M. and close at 6:00 P.M.

Children are bussed from Lathers to their home school and will be bussed from their home school back to Lathers after school dismisses for the day. 

Kindergarten children are walked to and from their classrooms with a staff member.  

Program

Our goal is to ensure that the children are safe, happy, and cared for in a positive environment. We are committed to meet the developmental needs of children through developmentally-appropriate experiences and activities. Our caring and nurturing staff provides supervision and guidance that helps children develop their leadership and social skills.

Our Latchkey rooms are set up into a variety of interest centers that are intentionally created to help support your child’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. Activities and equipment are selected to be fun, stimulating and educational. The Latchkey staff design weekly lesson plans that are appropriate for the children’s development. Each Monday the staff and children meet to plan what activities and topics they would like to explore that week.  Then the lesson plans are created with the children’s interests in mind and include types of activities such as, Arts and Crafts, Music & Movement, STEM, Cooking, and Outdoor Gross Motor Activities. Our program also offers the opportunity for children to relax, build friendships, work on homework, and learn through fun activities that include games, puzzles, dramatic play, building, puppets, housekeeping and more.

Staff

Latchkey staff participate in 16 hours of yearly professional development in child development as required by the State of Michigan. Every member of our staff is trained in infant and adult CPR and first aid.

Time Block and Tuition

Enrollment is based on FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis only.  Registering for one session does not guarantee a spot in the other session later in the school year.  A waiting list will be available and if a family withdrawals from the program, a child on the waitlist will be moved into that spot.

Registration Fee:  $50.00 (annual and non-refundable)

NOTE:  Latchkey care is available when school releases early due to a district half day.  The cost is additional $16.00 to cover the hours of care that your child would normally be in school.
